Winpisinger Center to Offer Basic Training for Word and Excel in June

IAM representatives use Microsoft Word and Excel to help us do our jobs. While many have extensive working knowledge of these programs, others have limited, or no, experience with these programs. There are tips and shortcuts that can help complete work faster and devote more time to advocating for members directly.

With this in mind, the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center is conducting virtual basic Word and Excel trainings in June.

Word trainings will cover creating automatic populating tables of contents, headers and footers, page numbers and more. Excel trainings will cover the very basics of Excel, focusing on those who have little to no working knowledge of the program. Both classes will cover basic keyboard shortcuts that make using these and many other programs easier.

More advanced classes will follow, which will give us the tools to bargain the best contracts for our members.

Greetings, Local Lodge 24 Brothers and Sisters, from rain-swept Hollywood, Maryland!

Day 4 of the five-day course at the Winpisinger Center is in the books. If you’ve followed along on our journey, you can probably guess that today was all about what to expect during the actual negotiations as well as how to present our union’s requests to the company. We are truly excited to represent all of you during the upcoming negotiations. The majority of the day (8 hours) was spent crafting and presenting proposals and where appropriate, counter proposals.

We look forward to concluding our class tomorrow. Check back once more tomorrow when we will share our wrap-up of the class.

In solidarity,

Joe Paneck,

President, IAM Local Lodge 24
